The Riviera Maya will host the WEC in 2023

Cancun, QR. The Mexican Caribbean will host the World Education Congress (WEC), the most important event in the meetings industry organized by the Meeting Professionals International (MPI) association, which will take place in the Riviera Maya on 12 to June 15, 2023.

This is the international meeting, which for the first time is organized outside the United States, in which around 2,000 participants from the different countries that make up the MPI are expected, with which it seeks to send a message that they are on the way full recovery in this segment, one of the hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, assured Darío Flota Alcocer, president of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council.

The official added that there will be event buyers from all over the world, “who will witness not only the greatness of the destinations, but also the first-class infrastructure and services offered by the Mexican Caribbean to hold meeting tourism events of this magnitude”.

Flota Ocampo explained that the WEC is focused on updating and professionalizing the entire value chain of the meetings industry and on generating business networks among the companies in the union.

“The call was won after an arduous competition where factors such as air connectivity, infrastructure, halls and venues for events, quality of services and products, quality of suppliers specialized in groups and events, attractions offered by the destination, among others, were taken into account. ”, he added.

The announcement was made precisely during the participation of the Mexican Caribbean in WEC 2022, held in San Francisco, California, United States.
