The press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the country’s navy forces have recently received the latest mine-sweeping ship “Alexandrite”.

The Russian Ministry of Defense had recently indicated that the aforementioned ship underwent tests this December, during which the crew trained on the use of monitoring systems and to explore enemy targets in the ship, and the communication and data transmission equipment provided with it.
Russia began developing this ship in 2017 and launched it into the water for the first time in 2019, to be the fourth marine minesweeper of the “Alexandrite” type developed within the framework of the government project No. 12700 of the Ministry of Defense in the country.

“Alexandrite” ships are distinguished by their hulls made of special mixtures of plastic and metal, which makes them difficult to discover by magnetic sea mines.
