The embassy wrote on its Facebook page on Wednesday night, Thursday: “During the ambassador’s meetings at the Russian Foreign Ministry and other bodies, means will be proposed to correct the Russian-American relations which are currently in trouble.”
She added, “The current situation has become a result of Washington’s deliberate policy, which has deliberately led bilateral relations over the past years to a deadlock. The unconstructive approach of the (US) administration toward our country is inconsistent with Russian and American interests. The reckless statements of US officials expose the relations, which are witnessing great disagreement. Basically, the risk of collapse. “
She explained that Moscow invited its ambassador, Anatoly Antonov, to return to Moscow for consultations, after the US President, Joe Biden, responded positively to a press question on Wednesday whether he considered Russian President Vladimir Putin a murderer. Biden added that he wanted Putin to “pay the price for meddling in the 2016 and 2020 US elections.”
The Kremlin did not immediately respond to these comments.
The Vice President of the Russian Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev asked Washington for “clarifications and apologies” for Biden’s statement.
