The Russian Foreign Ministry has invited all foreign embassies operating in Russian territory to vaccinate their employees with the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against the Corona virus.
A statement issued by the ministry today, Friday, said: “These measures are normal in most countries of the world, and their interpretation is simple and states that the successful control of the epidemic requires the widest possible participation (in vaccination) for the people in the country.”
The ministry stated that more than 25 countries have agreed to use the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine, expressing its belief that the successive vaccination campaign is a common task for the entire international community.
She added that Russia is thus implementing its international obligations, including the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, which stipulates that the host side must provide diplomatic missions with the necessary safety conditions for work.
A number of employees of the embassies of Mongolia, Spain and Belarus have vaccinated them against Corona virus with the Russian vaccine.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also stated that it is working at the same time to organize the vaccination of Russian diplomats working abroad.
She said, “(Work) is based on the principle of voluntariness and preserving the right of diplomats to choose an alternative vaccine. We take into account the possibility of delivering the Russian vaccine to this or that country, or using local vaccines, as well as the presence of the necessary medical infrastructure in Russian institutions abroad.” .
