Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that Russian diplomats used boats, vehicles and helicopters to transport citizens during the most severe periods of the epidemic.
“Our diplomats have brought back our Russian citizens by boats, helicopters, etc., well, diplomats also have to take the same route to return to their homes,” Zakharova said in a statement to “Russia 1” TV channel against the background of the return of the Russian embassy staff in Pyongyang.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry published video footage of the Russian embassy staff leaving North Korea on foot and using the train, given that the railway line between the two countries is closed due to the Corona pandemic, and they had to cross part of the road while pushing a train carriage loaded with their bags.
The ministry indicated that 8 employees of the Russian embassy in Pyongyang and their family members left Vladivostok airport and arrived in Moscow, and the youngest traveler among them was the 3-year-old daughter of the secretary of the diplomatic corps.
Last year, a large-scale campaign was organized to transfer Russians from abroad, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Seromolotov said that 313,000 people were repatriated from abroad with the efforts of foreign policy and other departments, and more than 550 flights were carried out from 138 countries of the world.
