The source explained that the “Okhotnik” heavy drone dropped unguided aerial bombs of 500 kilograms from the cabin inside the plane, indicating that “the target was hit with high accuracy.”
While the source did not specify the date of implementation of this training, he pointed out that it is not the first experience of this kind to destroy ground targets.
The source pointed out that “the latest targeting and navigation system supplied to the Okhotnik aircraft allows the use of free-fall ammunition with an accuracy close to that of a high-precision guided weapon.”
In this regard, it was reported that the strike aircraft “Okhotnik” is capable of independently hitting fixed and moving ground targets, with preset coordinates, including when receiving an external target in the air.
It is noteworthy that the heavy drone “Okhotnik” was supervised by the “Sukhoi” office. Its length is 14 meters, its wingspan is 19 meters, and its weight at take off is 20 tons, with its top speed reaching thousands of kilometers per hour.
This attack drone was designed according to the “flying wing” scheme, using materials that reduce the ability of radars to detect them.
The heavy drone “Okhotnik” carried out its first flight on August 3, 2019.
It is noteworthy that “Okhotnik” last year conducted training on launching air-to-air missiles, using missiles without engines, while live exercises will be conducted by firing combat missiles at air targets in the second half of this year.
