©Reuters. The Sao Paulo stock market advances 0.52% thanks to Embraer
Sao Paulo, Apr 28 (EFE).- The Sao Paulo stock market gained 0.52% this Thursday and the , the main stock market index, closed with 109,918 points, boosted by the 6.5% rise in shares of the Brazilian aeronautical company Embraer (SA:) after the disclosure of its results.
In the foreign exchange market, the US dollar depreciated 0.53% in Brazil and closed at 4.940 reais for purchase and 4.941 reais for sale, at the Brazilian commercial exchange rate.
The São Paulo market, which rose more than 1%, although it slowed down in the final stretch, closed in the green again, after bouncing 1.05% on Wednesday, which then ended a streak of seven consecutive days in negative.
Another factor that influenced the result of the Ibovespa was the optimism in the foreign scenario and the good behavior of the main Wall Street indicators.
The great beneficiary of the session was Embraer, world leader in the aircraft segment for regional flights and today reported losses of 428 million reais (about 86 million dollars) in the first quarter of the year, 18% less than in the same period of 2021.
Despite this, the aeronautical papers shot up 6.53% on the Ibovespa.
The papers of the financial firm Cielo (4.9%), the digital hosting portal Locaweb (4.2%) and Usiminas (4.0%), among other values, behaved in the same line.
On the contrary, the biggest losses were recorded by the fashion group Soma (-2.4%), the meat company Marfrig (-2.3%) and the wholesale network Assaí (-2.3%).
All in all, the Sao Paulo stock market added 569 units to its accumulated score.
The traded volume reached 26,631 million reais (about 5,400 million dollars), in a total of 3,424,074 financial operations, according to preliminary results.
The most traded shares were common shares of mining giant Vale (2.5%) and preferred shares of state oil company Petrobras (NYSE:) (0.7%).
