On Tuesday, the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution calling for the continued inclusion of individuals and entities linked to al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorists on the UN sanctions list.
In the resolution, the Security Council expressed its grave concern about the continued existence of “Al Qaeda” and “ISIS” and the content of their ideologies and procedures, as well as the increasing number of their cells in the whole world.
The document stated: “The United Nations Security Council continues to call on all member states to intensify the submission of requests to the Sanctions Committee for the inclusion of personalities, groups, establishments and institutions commensurate with the criteria specified in the sanctions list.”
The document clarified that the purpose of this decision is to ensure that the list of sanctions targeting the two organizations remains reliable and up-to-date.
