The American “Peacock” platform announced the return of the legendary series “Days of Our Lives” with a new season, continuing its journey that began in 1965.
This series is considered one of the oldest continuous dramas in the history of television, as it began showing on the American network “NBC” and remained there until it moved to “Peacock” in 2022.
The work tells the stories of multiple families living in the fictional town of Salem, Illinois, focusing on their complex personal and dramatic relationships.
On the occasion of Days of Our Lives reaching its 60th season, a special event entitled “One Day” was held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles to celebrate the work with its fans. The celebration witnessed a large attendance of fans of the series, who had the opportunity to meet their favorite characters, take pictures and sign memorabilia with them.
A special tribute to late work icons
“Peacock” was also keen to honor stars who recently passed away, such as actor Drake Hogestyn, who was famous for his role as “John” and died after a battle with cancer.
The network also honored the late Bill Hayes – who played the character Doug Williams – and his wife, actress Susan Seaforth Hayes, who plays the role of “Julie Olson” in the work.
Regarding the death of her husband, Hayes said, “I lived a long and happy life with Bill, and saying goodbye to him on screen was difficult but worthy of honor. I did not expect this honor from the producers, but they gave me the opportunity to give a special farewell in front of the audience. I would love to continue presenting the role of Julie as a tribute to this legacy. And also to maintain contact with our long-standing audience.”
The 81-year-old actress revealed that the producers collected historical scenes dating back to the first days that brought the two characters together on screen.
