The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño, ruled out that the events that occurred this morning at the Culiacán airport have an impact on the process for the Mexican aeronautical authority to return to category 1 before the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States.

After participating in the motorcycle renovation ceremony for the Mexican Postal Service (Sepomex), Nuño assured that the interim director of the FAA, Billy Nolen, will come to Mexico City next week to learn directly about the progress on the issue of recategorization.

“I don’t see any relationship (to the facts in culiacan). We continue to work on the issue of air operational security, which is very different from security issues at airports. We will discuss the progress next week with representatives of the FAA who will come to make the last evaluation of the corrective action plan that we proposed,” said the official.
