The SICT suspends procedures for the remainder of the year due to hacking

The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) decided to suspend until December 31 the proceedings or actions in the procedures that are processed, or must be processed, before different areas of its jurisdiction and the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC). ), because of the hack he reported on Monday of last week.

Among the deferred procedures are: reception of documents and reports, procedures, actions, initiation, substantiation and resolution of administrative procedures and/or contentious procedures before federal and local jurisdictional bodies, as well as notifications, summonses, summonses, requirements, requests of reports or documents and means of challenge or any other administrative and/or jurisdictional act required by the secretariat.

After the cyber attack on the SICT (released on October 24 and about which the person in charge of the SICT office, Jorge Nuño, explained that of 11,000 computers only 110 were attacked), the AFAC published on its social networks the suspension of any type of procedure until further notice.

Now, the final date is written in the Agreement suspending terms and conditions in the SICT, due to force majeure, which was published in the evening edition of the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), yesterday, Tuesday.

In this regard, El Economista asked the communication area of ​​the secretariat if this situation would affect the process for Mexico to once again have category 1 by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA, for its acronym in English).

“It does not affect the recovery of the recategorization. If what you say were to happen (the suspension) we would work with secure alternate networks”, was the response.

Also in federal motor transport

The argument of the SICT for the suspension of procedures was to safeguard the systems and information in the face of the cybernetic incident in computer equipment at the service of the dependency identified on October 24.

In addition to the AFAC, the hack affected other areas, such as motor transport. “In terms of federal motor transport, the procedures related to the issuance and renewal of the federal driver’s license are suspended in the General Directorate of Federal Motor Transport and in the SICT Centers. , as well as the procedures for issuing permits for federal motor transport, private transport and its auxiliary services,” the agency specified.

The agreement also specifies that in matters of civil aeronautics, procedures related to authorizations, permits, programs, accreditations, issuance of licenses and capacity certificates issued or granted by it are suspended.
