Nine-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky, one of the most decorated female swimmers in history, relies on a consistent and simple high-protein lunch to maintain her elite performance.
In a recent interview with EatingWell, Ledecky revealed that her standard midday meal is a self-made omelet. “Once I find something that is working well that keeps me fueled before and after practice, I’ll stick with it,” she explained. While she may vary the vegetables in her omelet or the type of toast she has with it, the swimmer noted that dinner is the only meal she changes daily.
Ledecky emphasized her focus on a “really balanced diet” that includes protein, carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables to ensure she is always ready for her next workout. Her typical daily eating schedule begins with a snack before morning practice, followed by a Core Power protein shake, a late breakfast, another small lunch or snack, and dinner after her afternoon training session. Ledecky has been a brand ambassador for Core Power since April 2023.
Now 28, the swimmer has taken full ownership of her diet, a change from her younger years when her mother handled all the cooking. “I’m cooking for myself, I’m making all those decisions,” Ledecky said. “I enjoy it. I enjoy learning about what fuels my body the best.”
