© Reuters. The Spanish Chamber in Brazil awards Santander and Acciona executives
Brasilia, Nov 24 (EFE) .- The Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Brazil recognized this Wednesday the trajectory of the presidents of Acciona (MC :), José Manuel Entrecanales, and of the Santander group in the country, Sergio Rial, whom it awarded as the “personalities” of the year.
The ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Spanish embassy in Brasilia and among the attendees were the president of the Santander Bank (MC :), Ana Botín, and the Brazilian Foreign Ministers, Carlos França; Environment, Joaquim Leite; and Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, among other authorities.
The traditional annual award for “Brazilian Personality” went to Sergio Rial, head of the Santander group in the country, while the “Spanish Personality” award went to José Manuel Entrecanales, president of Acciona, which also operates in Brazil.
During the ceremony, a message sent by the Brazilian vice president, Hamilton Mourao, was projected, who underlined the “vigor” of relations between Spain and Brazil, which he considered “two strategic partners with a solid cultural and emotional history.”
He also valued the strong investment of Spanish companies in the South American country, which amounts to about 50,000 million euros, which “generate thousands of jobs” and contribute to the growth of the national economy.
Likewise, the vice president welcomed the condition of “indispensable interlocutor before the European Union” that Spain has for Brazil and for the rest of Latin America.
In the same vein, the Spanish ambassador to Brazil, Fernando García Casas, highlighted “the ability and quality of Spanish companies to gain positions” in the Brazilian economy, with a commitment “that is long-term.”
