The Special Prosecutor for Missing Persons launches a campaign to prevent the disappearance of adolescents

Derived from a context analysis on causes and risk factors in the disappearance of adolescents in Jalisco carried out by the multidisciplinary team of the Department of Analysis and Context of the Special Prosecutor for Disappeared Persons (FEPD), the State Government, through of this Special Prosecutor’s Office launched the “Alert Mode” campaign, with the aim of preventing the disappearance of this population group in the entity.

For the preparation of this report, 1,785 interviews conducted with adolescents located by the FEPD between December 2018 and December 2021 were analyzed; based on what was expressed by them and they, various factors were detected that are related to each other, within which it was identified that 73.8% of these adolescents left home without notifying any person in their family, for reasons in which they that the management of their emotions is involved, as well as the tools they have for decision-making and the ability to resolve conflicts; in 18.1% adolescents pointed out factors such as family dynamics and conflicts; and the remaining 8% refer to the fact that their disappearance was due to the community environment in which the person is immersed, for example, having had an accident or having been the victim of a crime.

Through a mass communication campaign, through a series of spots, posters, infographics and other dissemination material, the FEPD seeks to inform mothers, fathers and people responsible for the care of adolescents about the importance of assertive communication and the use of digital social networks in a safe way to prevent the disappearances of adolescents in Jalisco.

In the same way, it will seek to inform public transport drivers and/or transport network companies about the disappearance of this sector of the population and the preventive actions that they can carry out to safeguard the safety of the teenagers.

In addition, the actions to be carried out for the effective search and speedy recovery of adolescents reported as missing will be disseminated in the child shelter centers and homes of Jalisco.

The dissemination strategy of the will be through digital media, electronic information sites, radio and television spots, spaces of the Integral System of the Light Train and buses of the Ministry of Transportation.

In addition, collaboration will be sought with other institutions so that they join as transmitting agents by sharing the document of the context report that gives way to this preventive campaign and the different recommendations that comprise it, and thus support disseminating the content of the campaign axes to through the programs that are currently in operation, thus achieving a greater impact with the users.

The Special Prosecutor for Missing Persons maintains its commitment to Jalisco families in the face of the crime of disappearance of persons, for which reason it will continue working on the creation of tools to prevent, combat and eradicate the disappearance of persons in the state of Jalisco.
