The San Antonio Spurs have been the latest team to show interest in Ben Simmons. This is at least what Zach Lowe, a journalist from ESPN, which asserts that Texans have sat down to negotiate a possible trade with the 76ers, but that such talks have barely advanced due to Philadelphia’s lack of interest in anything San Antonio has to offer.
According to Lowe, the Pennsylvanians continue to seek to receive a star or a projected youngster in exchange for the Australian, and there does not appear to be anyone on the Spurs roster who fits this profile. Although there are several interesting players in the Texans, the 76ers continue trying that the hypothetical exit of Simmons does not suppose a step backwards at a competitive level, which greatly limits their options and practically vetoes from the negotiations to teams lacking big names like San Antonio.
Meanwhile, the training camp It has already started and Ben is still on the sidelines of the team. The franchise, which has found that the offers received by the player did not approach its interests, now seems to back down and deny the transfer attempts, but the point guard remains determined to leave and will continue to press until it happens. In fact, as Ramona Shelburne assures, also from ESPN, Simmons right now assumes that the worst thing that can happen to him is having to sit on the sidelines all season while waiting for some movement to occur and is willing to do so.
There does not seem to be a simple solution to the case, which seemed destined to be solved in the summer but which, just a few weeks after the start of the new course, does not seem to have advanced in any direction in all these months.
