The Sudanese Professionals Association called on the Attorney General to form a committee to review the headquarters of the Rapid Support Forces and other forces and police guards, to ensure that they are completely free of civilian detainees.
In a statement posted on the website “Facebook” to the Sudanese Attorney General, the assembly demanded the abolition of the Rapid Support Law and the integration of these forces into the armed forces within a known period of time, according to a fair classification, through which those who meet the conditions for joining the armed forces are merged and those who do not meet They have the conditions under the Armed Forces Act.
He said: “The presence of detainees without a criminal report and without an arrest warrant violates Article 79 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which states that imprisonment is carried out by the police and in their guards, and that investigations according to Article 39 of the law are only conducted by the Public Criminal Police under the supervision and directions of the Public Prosecution.” All of this is consistent with what was stipulated in the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel Treatment or Punishment, Article 55 concerning the promotion of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil Rights.
