Khaled Yasser Al-Shammari, the father of the Bidoon child, Ali Al-Shammari, 11 years old, whose suicide sparked widespread outrage in Kuwait, revealed the circumstances and causes of the accident.
The child’s father, who was buried yesterday afternoon in the Sulaibikhat cemetery, said that necessity is the reason for his loss, adding in his interview to the Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Rai: “Ali often saw me in pain when he and his brothers asked to buy toys, clothes, a phone or an iPad. Their peers, and I respond to them with pain in my heart that I do not have money. “
The child’s father indicated that he works for 150 dinars ($ 495), and that he has not received anything from it for 3 months, even though he supports his wife and six children.
Regarding the reasons for the suicide, Al-Shammari said: “The day before his suicide, he asked me for 12 dinars (40 dollars) to bring a PlayStation from the repair shop. He has been in detention for weeks and I do not have the money to receive it, and I told him that I will give it when I have it.”
He added, “He replied to me by saying, I know, Dad, that you work and tire for me and my brothers, and you always remind us that want has broken your back, but I. God willing, I will not let you need anyone.” And he continued: “He got up and kissed my head, then kissed him again and said this to my mother so that she would not be sad, and he went to sleep in his room.”
At 2:30 a.m., the father was surprised by the sound of his other son screaming, saying that Ali was dead, so the father went to his son’s room, and he was hung on a cable for the air-conditioning unit, and he could not stand the scene and fell next to him.
As a result, the child, who was studying in the sixth grade, was transferred to the hospital, but he was dead.
