The Syrian Minister of Economy, Muhammad Samer al-Khalil, confirmed that the economic reality in Syria has begun to improve, and there are better growth rates, stressing that offering a bill of 5 thousand pounds will not lead to inflation.
“The economy is gradually improving and it requires more time,” Al-Khalil said in an interview with Syrian TV.
With regard to the offering of the five thousand-lira note, Hebron stressed that there is no increase in the monetary block, but rather the replacement of banknotes with others, and that all denominations of the Syrian currency will remain, but the damaged ones will be replaced by the 5,000 denomination.
He added that there is a “22% increase in the export sector compared to last year, and more than 50% decrease in the balance of trade deficit in 2020.”
For his part, the Director of Economic Research at the Central Bank of Syria confirmed that offering a bill of 5 thousand Syrian pounds is a solution to the problem of the impact of inflation, and this will not affect the exchange rate.
With regard to the citizen’s purchasing power, the Syrian Deputy Minister of Finance confirmed that the ministry is pursuing new methods to improve the standard of living through incentives and incentives.
