The spokesman added that “good security intervention” contributed to the return of calm to these areas after hours of confrontations, explaining that “security units, with all their specializations, succeeded last night in confronting attempts to sabotage and loot public and private property in a number of regions of the country by groups of People as young as 25 years old. ”
He pointed out that many of those arrested in connection with riots and confrontations with security forces in a number of parts of the country last night were minors.
Several cities, including neighborhoods in the capital, witnessed clashes on Saturday / Sunday night between a number of young men and the security forces, who used tear gas to disperse them.
As a result, the security forces arrested dozens of young men in the governorates of Tunis, Manouba, Sousse, Monastir and Kairouan.
