The Turkish Defense Ministry announced today, Sunday, that its naval forces have conducted live ammunition exercises in the Mediterranean waters.
The ministry said, “Members of the Turkish Naval Forces Command carried out live ammunition exercises in the Mediterranean waters.”
These exercises come in light of differences between Ankara and the European Union over Turkey’s activities in the Mediterranean waters to search for energy resources.
On December 10, the union announced the imposition of sanctions on Ankara for its “illegal and hostile behavior” towards Greece and Cyprus.
