Ohio prison officials said death row inmate Rommel Brum, who survived an attempted lethal injection in 2009, died of possible complications from the coronavirus at the age of 64.
Sarah French, a spokeswoman for the state’s prison system, told the Columbus Dispatch newspaper that Prom has been placed on the “potential corona list” maintained by the Rehabilitation and Correction Department, which includes prisoners suspected of having died in Corona pending death certificates.
According to the newspaper, the prisoner, who was 53 years old on the day of the execution, cried with pain as the technicians tried to search for a suitable vein to be injected, but their attempts were unsuccessful and the death sentence was canceled.
