The United States awarded $ 10 million to Partners of the Americas to strengthen gender equality and reduce discrimination and workplace harassment in Mexico, the Department of Labor reported Tuesday.
The organization will support initiatives to primarily increase the number of women in leadership positions in Mexican unions, better protect them from discrimination and harassment in the workplace and increase their salaries to achieve equality, it says in a statement.
The reform of labor legislation enacted in Mexico in 2019 and the agreement between the Latin American country, the United States and Canada include this type of aid.
Founded in 1964, Partners of the Americas implements development programs funded by the US government for more than 57 years in Latin America and the Caribbean.
