Today, Monday, the US embassy in Beijing called on the Chinese authorities to immediately release 12 people from Hong Kong and allow them to leave the country.
“Their alleged crime is to flee from tyranny. Communist China will not stop at anything to prevent its people from seeking freedom elsewhere,” the US embassy said in a statement.
It is scheduled that this afternoon, 10 people out of 12 people from Hong Kong will appear before the Chinese judiciary, who were detained earlier in Chinese waters while trying to flee to Taiwan.
