The US security services excluded two National Guard members from participating in guarding the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, after their links to right-wing groups were revealed.
This came as a result of screening members of the National Guard, with more than 20,000 of them supporting law enforcement in Washington, DC, ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, two weeks after a group of far-right stormed the Capitol.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had warned that right-wing extremists had discussed pretending to be members of the National Guard in Washington, DC.
The Associated Press reported earlier, that the FBI will work to examine all the National Guard, which has a number of 25,000, and to participate in securing Trump’s inauguration.
