The White House is considering requiring travelers from the United Kingdom to present proof of a negative coronavirus test before arriving in the United States, two administration officials told CNN.
The discussions come amid the discovery of a new type of Corona virus discovered in the United Kingdom and with a large number of countries suspending travel. US public health officials, including Dr Anthony Fauci, have said they do not believe the current situation warrants a suspension of travel from the UK.
The decision under discussion at the White House would require travelers from the United Kingdom to the United States to provide evidence of a negative coronavirus test conducted within 48 or 72 hours of arriving in the United States, and a spokesman for Vice President Mike Pence, who heads the task force, declined.
