The US military confirmed that it is investigating the alleged involvement of a number of its military personnel stationed in Kuwait in establishing a black market for pork, in violation of local laws.
The spokesman for the US Army Criminal Investigation Command (CID), Chris Gray, confirmed in an interview with the US military’s Task & Purpose website, that the special agents of the leadership have launched an investigation into allegations that some military have formed an illegal pig smuggling network, pointing out that the investigation is still ongoing. Is persistent and is unable to reveal more information in order to maintain its integrity.
This comes in light of the online activists publishing a picture of a circular issued by the military leadership, stating that the sale of pork products in the camp stores in Kuwait should be stopped, against the backdrop of the establishment of an illegal network that smuggled and resold them outside the camps.
The document indicated that pork products worth $ 30 are being resold outside the camps at a value of $ 200, and claimed that the punishment for smuggling and selling pork in Kuwait is “life imprisonment” (although it does not actually exceed imprisonment for a period of between three months and three years).
