The US Department of Justice refused to prosecute Ellen Chow, Secretary of Transportation in the administration of former President Donald Trump, in the case of possible violations of her powers, after receiving a report from the inspector of the department.
A report by the Inspector General’s Office of the Ministry of Transportation, released on Wednesday, said Zhao had instructed her employees to search for items for personal use and purchase them online using her own credit card.
The Office of the Inspector General considered that there may be some ethical or administrative problems that must be dealt with, but there is no basis for opening criminal investigations.
Last December, the Office of the Inspector General referred the file to the District Attorney’s office, which also refused to open criminal investigations.
