The US House of Representatives approved increasing payments to citizens to help them overcome the repercussions of the Coronavirus crisis from $ 600 to $ 2000, in response to the demand of US President Donald Trump.
And 275 members of the parliament voted in favor of the increase, while 134 deputies opposed it. The Senate is expected to vote on it at a later time.
Trump has threatened to block a government spending and aid package to mitigate the fallout from the Corona virus pandemic worth $ 2.3 trillion if lawmakers do not agree to increase payments to citizens to $ 2,000.
A rare scene arose between the US president and Congress, with Democrats endorsing Republican President Trump’s proposal, and Republican lawmakers opposing it. The fate of the bill remains murky, with Republicans holding a majority in the Senate.
