The US State Department denied the reports that a joint group had been formed with Turkey to settle the dispute over Ankara’s purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems.
A US State Department spokesman told the Russian “TASS” agency, on Wednesday, “There is no task force on sanctions under the CAATSA law or to study the danger posed by the S-400 systems to the F-35 fighters.”
He added that there are regular consultations regarding the impact of sanctions on cooperation between the two countries, stressing Washington’s adherence to the sanctions policy.
Turkish media quoted Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşo تصريحاتlu as his statements about the formation of a working group to discuss issues related to Turkey’s purchase of Russian S-400 systems and the sanctions imposed by Washington on Turkey because of them under the law “Facing America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions” (CAATSA) .
