The US State Department announced that the new administration in Washington was “moving quickly” to “hold” Russia accountable for what it described as “malicious activities.”
“Since the first days of the current administration, we have taken quick steps to ensure that our measures to hold Russia accountable,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ned Price during a press conference on Tuesday.

He added that US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haynes is following “Russia’s business” closely.
However, Price declined to answer the question whether the United States would rush to impose sanctions on Russia over the Alexei Navalny case, in light of the differences between Washington and the European Union over Russia, which emerged after the visit of the European Union Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Josep Borrell to Moscow.
