The VisitMéxico platform is in the hands of the Sectur: Torruco

The Ministry of Tourism is already in charge of the national and international promotion platform VisitMéxico and among the objectives are: keeping it active, putting more content and having a greater link with the states, said its owner, Miguel Torruco, who did not offer details about what happened with the concertation agreement that was signed in 2019 with the company Braintivity, chaired by businessman Marcos Achar.

Said agreement had an expiration date of September 2024 and included the use of the Mexico brand. According to some public actions, it seemed that the relationship was still valid.

The first week of this month, VisitMéxico was one of the sponsors of the Forum: Tourism, a priority for the development of Mexico, held in the Senate of the Republic, and its director, Carlos González, received a round of applause for his work at a table of work on Magical Towns.

“We’re giving it a go,” he said briefly. Regarding the development of the platform, in the last month, the hosts of the Facebook program Altavoz Turismo (Marco Daniel Guzmán and Edgar Morales) have highlighted the loss of visits to the site and the elimination of content (hundreds and hundreds of internet addresses, URL). Two examples: https://visitmexico.com/morelos/tepoztlan and https://visitmexico.com/estado-de-mexico/amecameca/ecoparques-y-la-ruta-de-las-luciernagas.

This Monday, after participating in the presentation of the activities on the occasion of the Day of the Dead in Mexico City, the Secretary of Tourism was asked about the subject.

What happens with the VisitMexico platform?

Nothing, it is operating as usual.

Some content was downloaded, for example, from the blog, why?

Because we are renewing, we are going to introduce new ones.

Are you renewing?

Yes, soon we will add other scenes of the new events that we are doing.

Is Marcos Achar still a partner in that project, with Braintivity?

He is a member of Braintivity. They continue with Braintivity and we with VisitMéxico.

Has not (the company that operates) been changed?

No, we are already managing it.

Was the contract/agreement taken away from them?

No, they were not removed.

Could you explain what happened?

Nothing, simply that the Secretariat is already empowered to have greater mobility and give it more images and links with the states.

Does the company that was given the concertation contract no longer have anything to do with it?

We are working on our VisitMéxico project.

The agreement was until September 2024. Is it over?

Simply that we are already in a position to handle it as we are doing.

Was it given to another company?

No. We (the platform) have it.

Will the rest of the administration operate it?

We are operating it. That’s how it is.

In June 2020, after various complications between Braintivity and a provider, Tecnocen, which were reflected in interruptions in the promotion of tourist attractions, it was detailed in a statement: The Sectur reports that, regarding the suspension of the service of the VisitMexico platform, in May 2019 signed an agreement with the company Braintivity, through which the administration and operation of this platform were in charge of that company.
