The Golden State Warriors are keeping their foot off the gas. The San Francisco team took their 17th victory in 19 games by defeating the Blazers 118-103, maintaining their great moment of form and establishing themselves at the head of a classification in which only the Suns appear in the rearview mirror. Those of Kerr, who added their tenth consecutive victory at home, once again transmitted great sensations, led by a fantastic Stephen Curry who returned to do his thing.
The point guard, with 32 points, finished as the top scorer of the match and once again astonished locals and strangers with his resources to score as many from the perimeter as attacking the paint. Steph finished the match with 6 triples in 15 attempts (40%), numbers that do not attract attention in someone like him but that allowed him to repeatedly punish the Blazers defense and maintain the good offensive tune of his team. With his 8 assists and his constant movement off the ball, he also once again gave a lesson in generation and direction, leading the Warriors to a new victory.
In fact, Curry was with Jordan Poole in charge of dynamiting the match with the 16-2 run that the locals closed the first half with. With two triples each, both broke a match that was tied (42-42) in a matter of two minutes, forging an important advantage that would go to more until reaching 21 points of difference in the second half. The Blazers made a move to get closer, but Golden State’s good defense prevented them from building the momentum necessary to come back and Kerr’s men were able to calmly close the match.
Poole was therefore essential despite finishing with only 14 points, although Steph’s best squire in attack was Andrew Wiggins. The forward managed to score 25 points thanks to his 10/16 shooting (3/5 on triples), displaying a reliability in the shot that has been questioned for many years. In addition, Draymond Green had a double-double of 12 points and 12 assists, also contributing 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals in another impressive defensive performance.
The Blazers, for their part, once again showed signs of weakness away from the Moda Center, as they have only won one of the ten games they have played as visitors. In their ward the situation is completely opposite (9-1), but this difficulty in adding at home is preventing them from finishing taking off.
At the Chase Center, Billups’ men seemed to have trouble finding their best version, especially Damian Lillard, who played a fairly low-key duel and stayed at 16 points after scoring just five shots from the field. The same points he scored CJ McCollum, so the Oregonians were led by Anfernee Simons’ 19 and Jusuf Nurkic’s 17.
