The World Bank announced that the Palestinian vaccination plan against the Coronavirus is facing a funding shortfall of 30 million dollars.
In a report, the bank said, “Israel, which is one of the leaders in the world in terms of speed of vaccination, might consider donating surplus doses to the Palestinians to help accelerate the start of the vaccination campaign in the West Bank and Gaza.”
He added: “In order to ensure an effective vaccination campaign, the Palestinian and Israeli authorities must coordinate the financing, purchase and distribution of safe and effective vaccines for Coronavirus.”
He pointed out that “cost estimates indicate that about 55 million dollars are needed in total to cover 60 percent of the population, and there is currently a shortfall of 30 million dollars,” calling on donors to provide additional aid.
The Palestinian Authority intends to cover 20 percent of the Palestinians through the Kovacs vaccine distribution program.
Palestinian Authority officials hope to purchase additional vaccines to achieve coverage of 60 percent of the population.
