Today, Friday, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that the world may face two third and even fourth waves of the Coronavirus, which causes Covid-19 infection, if necessary precautions are not taken.
The director of the emergency program in the organization, Mike Ryan, stressed during a press conference that the emergence of vaccines against the Corona virus should not encourage the governments of the countries of the world to reduce efforts to combat the pandemic, indicating the risk of “losing focus.”
Ryan said, “We believe that we have overcome this situation, but we are not on that … Countries will be drawn into two waves, a third, but a fourth, if caution is not applied.”
Ryan expressed his concern that there are governments and personalities who consider that the Coronavirus pandemic has remained in the past, stressing that this is not an appropriate time to ease measures to combat “Covid-19”, including in Brazil, which is witnessing large numbers of injuries and deaths.
For his part, the Director-General of the Organization, Tedros Adhanum Ghebreyesus, considered that the Corona virus pandemic may represent a mass wound to the world even greater than the repercussions of World War II, stressing that it will continue for many years.
Since January 2020, the world has been facing a chronic health crisis caused by the outbreak of the new Corona virus “COVID-19”, which began to spread from the Chinese city of Wuhan and led to huge losses in many sectors of the economy, especially transportation, tourism and entertainment, and the collapse of global stock exchanges and the acceleration of the decline Energy markets.
The World Health Organization classified this outbreak as a pandemic on March 11 last year, and the virus has so far infected more than 115 million people around the world, killing about 2.5 million of them.
