Today, Thursday, Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi issued a presidential declaration transferring his full powers to a presidential leadership council. He also issued a presidential decree relieving Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, Vice President of the Republic of Yemen, from his post.
The presidential declaration stipulates that the Presidential Command Council will assume the political, military and security administration of the state and complete the implementation of the tasks of the transitional phase, in addition to leading negotiations with the Houthis on a ceasefire.
The Presidential Council is composed of 8 members headed by Rashad Al-Alimi, and the membership of Sultan Ali Al-Arada, Tariq Muhammad Salih, Abdul Rahman Abu Zara’a, Othman Hussein Majali, Aidros Qassem Al-Zubaidi, Faraj Salmin Al-Bahsani, and Abdullah Al-Alimi Bawazeer.
The Yemeni president also decided to form a Yemeni committee for consultation and reconciliation, bringing together the various components to support and support the Presidential Leadership Council and work to unify and bring together the national forces, in a way that enhances the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and create the appropriate conditions to stop fighting and conflicts between all forces and reach peace that achieves security and stability throughout the country.
The Yemeni presidential declaration also included the formation of a legal team of competent national competencies headed by Ismail Ahmed al-Wazir, to draft the rules regulating the work of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, the legal team and the economic team formed under this declaration, to be submitted within 45 days from the date of this announcement. to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council for approval.
Hadi said in the statement – which was read by the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Muammar Al-Eryani – that he issued these decisions based on “the powers granted to us by the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen, in embodying the will of the people, respecting the constitution and law, protecting national unity, the principles and objectives of the Yemeni revolution, and commitment to the peaceful transfer of power.”
He added that this also comes based on the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, and in accordance with Article 9 of the executive mechanism of the Gulf initiative, which stipulates the need to take all necessary legislation to implement the guarantees contained in the Gulf initiative, the most important of which is meeting the aspirations of our people for change and reform and removing the elements of political and security tension.
