(Trends Wide) — A shooting in a southwest Philadelphia neighborhood left at least 8 people injured, police said Monday night.
There is one person in custody and a weapon was recovered, Miguel Torres, a police spokesman, told Trends Wide in a statement.
Six of the victims were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and two were taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Jasmine Reilly, also a Philadelphia Police spokeswoman, told Trends Wide.
Authorities did not provide details on the conditions of the injured.
The shooting occurred in the 5700 block of Warrington Ave, in the Kingsessing neighborhood of Philadelphia, police said.
There have been at least 339 mass shootings in the United States so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. This organization, like Trends Wide, defines a mass shooting as one in which four or more people are shot, not including the attacker.
