There will be a hearing in the CDMX North Prison on the Agronitrogenados case

This Tuesday a hearing will be held in the courts of the North Prison in Mexico City, where the former director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Emilio Lozoya, and officials of that oil company, will define whether they reached a reparation agreement for the Agronitrogenados case.

The hearing will be led by the control judge of the Federal Criminal Justice Center in the North Prison, Verónica Gutiérrez Fuentes, and it is expected to begin at 10:00 a.m. The legal representatives of Pemex and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), in addition to the agents of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), will appear as victims.

The FGR accuses Emilio Lozoya of money laundering, bribery and improper exercise of public service for allegedly having received 3.2 million dollars from the company Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA), in exchange for Pemex -in his administration- acquiring the overpriced Agronitrogenous plant. Emilio Lozoya offers Pemex 3 million 400,000 dollars as a reparation agreement.

It should be noted that Lozoya also faces criminal proceedings for the Odebrecht case. For this process, the former director offered Pemex a compensation of 7 million 385,000 dollars so that the Attorney General’s Office suspends the two criminal proceedings against him for the crimes of money laundering, bribery and criminal association.

Likewise, Lozoya has an open process for an alleged debt with the Tax Administration Service (SAT), for which the former director of Pemex also offered -through his lawyer Alejandro Rojas- to compensate 2 million 695,985 pesos that he allegedly had not declared before the SAT in 2016 for Income Tax (ISR).

Previously, Francisco Olascoaga Rodríguez, a former employee of Emilio Lozoya Austin, defended himself against any arrest warrant issued against him for crimes that do not warrant unofficial preventive detention.

The Third District Judge in Matters of Amparo and Federal Trials with residence in the State of Mexico granted the former head of the Administrative Department in the General Directorate of Pemex the provisional suspension, thus stopping his capture.
