They challenge changes to PRI statutes

The former national president of the PRI, Dulce María Sauri, filed a challenge against the reform of the statutes of the tricolor that allowed deputy Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas to extend his term as head of the party until 2024.

“In time and form I filed a challenge against the surprising and cunning reform of the PRI Statutes. Recovering the institutionality is the only way to get back on track, ”she wrote on her twitter account, the former leader after filing the appeal before the Tricolor Party Justice Commission.

Previously, the former president of the PRI, Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, went to the Partisan Justice Commission in the same vein.

While senators Claudia Ruiz Massieu and Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong also challenged the modifications to their party’s statutes before the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF).

The resources seek to annul the extraordinary session of the National Political Council (CPN), held on December 17, where the reform to article 83, section 37 of the party’s statutes was approved, which will allow it to extend its term beyond the original term, which was August 18, 2023.

The disagreements over the expansion of the leadership of Moreno Cárdenas have caused a break with the party of the former governor of Guerrero, Héctor Astudillo Flores, who resigned from the Institutional Revolutionary after demonstrating against the reform that modified the internal statutes.
