They close airports, cancel flights and ask “not to go out” in Sinaloa after the arrest of Ovidio Guzmán

The Culiacán International Airport announced that operations were closed until 10 p.m. this Thursday, after the riots generated by the arrest of drug trafficker Ovidio Guzmán, son of “Chapo” Guzmán and leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.

“For the safety of all passengers, the airport will be closed from 08:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., if you have any questions about your flight, contact your airline, avoid going to the airport. We recommend you follow official sources, ”he specified.

Aeroméxico, for its part, announced the cancellation of its flights in three cities of Sinaloa after the arrest of drug trafficker Ovidio Guzmán.

“Given the events that occurred today, the operations scheduled for today from/to Culiacán, Los Mochis and Mazatlán are cancelled. We will have free protection policies so you can reschedule your trip. We will keep you informed”, indicated the company through its social networks.

From the early hours of this Thursday, January 5, 2023, drug blockades were carried out in different areas of Culiacán, Sinaloa and other cities such as Mochis that would be related to the arrest of the “mouse” as Ovidio is also known.

For its part, the Mexico City International Airport also reported that there may be setbacks on flights that have Sinaloa as their destination or place of departure.

The Sinaloa authorities announced, after the damage caused, the cancellation of classes in the state and also asked the inhabitants, especially in Culiacán, to stay in their homes until further notice.
