(Trends Wide) — After a detailed investigation by Teton County forensic pathologists, anthropologists and local law enforcement, with the help of the FBI, the Teton County Coroner’s Office determined that Gabby Petito’s cause of death was death by strangulation. Teton County Medical Examiner Dr. Brent Blue announced Tuesday.
In his preliminary findings, Dr. Blue had previously ruled that the manner of death was a homicide. The cause of death was pending the results of the autopsy.

Under Wyoming state statute, no other autopsy information will be released apart from the manner and cause of death.
