They kill Neto, a prisoner who escaped from the Cd Juárez prison

Ernesto Alberto Piñón de la Cruz, “el Neto”, died in a confrontation with federal and state security elements that sought to recapture him after his escape last Sunday from the Social Readaptation Center (Cereso) No. 3 in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.

The governor of Chihuahua, María Eugenia Campos, said that the security elements arrived at a house on Toltecas and Tzetzales streets in the Aztecas neighborhood where “el Neto” was, who tried to flee aboard a vehicle, but was hit in the vicinity of a gas station, where where he faced shots with the authorities. The subject was arrested, but he died when he was transferred to the North Zone District Attorney’s Office of the city.

At the scene of the confrontation, the authorities seized the BMW armored vehicle in which Piñón de la Cruz was traveling, as well as eight long weapons and five tactical vests.

The dejection of the leader of the criminal group Los Mexicles generated a violent response from members of that group, as they set fire to various vehicles, businesses and supermarkets in Ciudad Juárez.

“El Neto” was one of the 30 inmates that the Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office was looking for, after an armed command entered the Cereso 3 in Ciudad Juárez on Sunday to rescue them. He was one of those prisoners with a VIP cell inside Cereso 3, since he had a television, cell phones, a bathtub, and a safe.

The criminal was the leader of a local gang called Los Mexicles, and since 2009 he had been serving a sentence of more than 200 years for the crimes of kidnapping and homicide.

The Attorney General of the State of Chihuahua, Roberto Fierro Duarte, said that experts and analysts from that agency are working on locating the people who escaped from prison.

He reported that Isaac Jesús Rojas Ruiz, another of the 30 inmates who escaped from the prison on January 1, was also captured.
