They threaten to reactivate the complaint against VU Manufacturing

Despite the results in the voting, from a labor complaint to the United States government under the T-MEC Rapid Response Mechanism, to the remediation measures presented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, the company VU Manufacturing ” refuses to negotiate the collective bargaining agreement with the Liga Sindical Obrero Mexicana”.

This was announced by Julieta Morales García, General Secretary of the Liga Sindical Obrero Mexicana (LSOM), who demanded that the Mexican government review the behavior of the company VU Manufacturing, “by virtue of the fact that the remediation measures agreed by both governments have been breached, which causes the causes of origin of the original complaint to be updated ”.

In this sense, he explained that “the company refuses to accept a collective bargaining in good faith in which the parties can, in an atmosphere of respect, analyze the various proposals and has only been stalling at the start of a negotiation,” he said. Morales Garcia.

On June 20, 2022, the petition under the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism of the trade agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada, same as it was issued.

In this context, elections were held in which the LSOM obtained 30% of the votes; and on August 31, 2022, he obtained the certificate of representativeness to negotiate the first collective contract with the company, for which reason “apparently the conditions were in place for a respectful negotiation process. However, this has not happened, the favoritism for the CTM continues, ”he indicated.

VU Manufacturing is a company that has been operating in the city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila for more than 14 years.

Julieta Morales maintained that if no action is taken, they will request that the labor complaint be reactivated within the framework of the T-MEC, since the company has at all times prevented progress in authentic collective bargaining.
