Monterrey, NL. Companies in the agri-food sector need to be more competitive and modernize their processes so that they become suppliers of large food processors and marketers, and manage to place their products in the national and foreign markets.
Therefore, the Agrifood Cluster of Nuevo León (AGROLIM)will design a work plan that includes the preparation of internationally certified consultants and auditors to advise companies, as well as offer them various supports and tools, to boost their competitiveness, sustainability and business opportunities, said Javier Yesaki Dueñez, president of the organism.
This was commented during the 14th Annual Assembly where javier yesaki was appointed as president of the Cluster and Alberto de la Fuente Fuentesas vice president.
He pointed out that they will promote the growth and improvements of the projects initiated by previous AGROALIM presidencies, as well as consolidate the Cluster with members and associates from the entire value chain, from the primary to the consumer sector, in addition to promoting an environment of business, synergies and benefits for all members.
“There are many entrepreneurs and SMEs that have very innovative products, but due to the lack of certification they have not reached the markets,” said Yesaki Dueñez, also General Director of the company JJ Alimentos, a producer and processor of chicken-based food and of fresh egg based in Monterrey.
Regarding the issue of safety, the Cluster has already graduated 19 students from the last semester of food-related careers, so that they implement any safety system in an SME under the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) scheme, which they will seek to increase to periodically offer more trained and certified students to the market, as well as seek significant cost reductions for certification audits.
They plan that before June a generation of trained personnel will be ready to evaluate standards and issue the certificate in food handling.
Yesaki Dueñez added that they will also seek to promote compliance with environmental legislation on issues of discharges, emissions into the atmosphere and waste, since now, due to international practices, companies are going to ask their suppliers, in addition to the safety certification, that of sustainability.
In foreign trade, the Cluster plans to carry out more commercial missions, for which it will form a group of companies that are already certified, to quasi attend food fairs representing the state of Nuevo León in pavilions.
In addition, the organization collaborates with chambers of commerce from Canada, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Australia and Israel, which is why they help companies from these countries to establish relationships with local firms and introduce their products or supplies in the Mexican market. .
