Good news comes from San Francisco. As reported by Golden State, both Klay Thompson and James Wiseman are making good progress on their respective recoveries, keeping them on track to return sometime in the 2021-22 season. It is not a great novelty, but it is about the certification of the good progress of both with the serious ailments suffered previously.
About Klay, it was reported long ago that it was possible that he would return to action on Christmas Day; however, this does not hide the fact that there are still several important steps to take before it becomes a reality. To begin with, you must participate in several controlled exercises during training camp. Later, it will be time to join the full training sessions with the rest of your teammates.
The non-Wiseman situation is not very different at the time level, but it is in terms of the fact that the pivot has been injured since April (torn meniscus in his right knee) while the guard has accumulated more than two years without playing a game. With this reality in mind, the center is expected to participate in some individual activities during the training camp. The time to decide when to return to full workouts will be taken right after, as they must first check how you are doing once any physical restraints on your knee are removed.
Although this is good news, they also make it clear that the Warriors will not start the course at full capacity. Last season they were out of the playoffs because they could not overcome the play-in (losses to Lakers and Grizzlies). This year the Western Conference will be no less tough, so they will not be able to lose the slightest bit while they wait for the reinforcement of pieces of the caliber of Klay Thompson.
