LOGAN, Utah — A suspicious package prompted the emergency evacuation of the Old Main Building at Utah State University on Tuesday afternoon.
The building was cleared shortly before 2:45 p.m., with a campus alert instructing occupants to “Leave immediately using the nearest exit” and to use stairs rather than elevators. The notice also advised people to take only essential items and gather at their department’s designated evacuation area.
The incident occurred as the university was heightening its security presence in preparation for a scheduled event by the conservative organization Turning Point USA.
