Three mystery coronavirus cases emerge in Victoria after 61 virus-free days – as state announces tighter restrictions on NSW
- The three new cases hadn’t travelled to NSW recently sparking fears of outbreak
Victoria has recorded three new mystery cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday as authorities scramble to determine where they came from.
The new infections end the state’s two month streak without any new cases, and all close contacts of the three people have been put into isolation.
The cases had not recently travelled to New South Wales, prompting fears a new outbreak may have formed in Victoria.

A list of venues visited by the infected cases are expected to be released on Wednesday night as interviews continue with the new cases.
The news comes after the state tightened its border restrictions with NSW after 18 new cases were recorded on Wednesday.
From midnight on New Year’s Eve, Victoria will shut its borders to anyone from the Blue Mountains and Wollongong.
Anyone who has visited these areas have until December 27 to enter the state without being locked out.
More to come.
