Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel insisted that fans in the stands should show respect to his players after Tottenham fans threw projectiles at Antonio Rudiger at Stamford Bridge during their Premier League match on Sunday.
Rudiger, 28, was hit by projectiles during the second half of Chelsea’s 2-0 win, with goals by Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva, to lead the London team to the first league victory since December 26.
And this incident comes one day after the Aston Villa duo Lucas Digne, who joined the team from Everton two weeks ago, and Matty Cash were thrown by the home fans at Goodison Park.
Merseyside police have charged a 19-year-old with assault and throwing a projectile into the field during Everton’s 1-0 loss.
“Everyone needs to show respect and act according to certain guidelines, there is no doubt about that,” Tuchel said.
“If this is a new trend, we need to work together to make sure that stops as quickly as possible to protect the environment and the great atmosphere in England.”
