Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns is listed as questionable as he closes in on return after missing almost FOUR months with calf strain, while Anthony Edwards could also make comeback on Wednesday
The Minnesota Timberwolves have upgraded star big man Karl-Anthony Towns injury status to questionable in anticipation of him finally returning to the court Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.
Towns has been out for almost four months after suffering a severely strained right calf muscle. He has missed 52 games since he was hurt in November 28 game at Washington.
While speaking earlier this week before the Timberwolves played the New York Knicks, Towns commented on the time he has spent out with the injury.
‘I hated every moment of it,’ Towns said in his first interview about the injury and rehab process.
‘I feel good there is a day (coming). There’s a time. I’ve been in the darkness of the tunnel and trying to figure out where I’m going. It’s good to know that there’s some light at the end of the tunnel.’

Towns suffered the grade 3 calf strain on November 28 and has missed nearly four months
‘I’ve been itching to play. I’ve worked extremely hard to get to the moment to play. Setbacks happen. I couldn’t do it. I’ve wanted to play basketball so bad for so long.’
It had been reported that Towns was going to be out for four-to-six weeks, although Towns says he and the doctors never discussed that timeline.
‘It was never supposed to be a four-to-six week thing,’ Towns said. ‘It was supposed to be a long time.’
Towns also revealed that test of the Grade 3 strain showed multiple tears in his calf which led him to believe the injury would take an extended amount of time to recover.
Minnesota also listed superstar guard Anthony Edwards as questionable for Wednesday’s game after missing the last two games with a sprained ankle he suffered last week. He was seen wearing a walking boot but that is now off.
Edwards had been averaging 25.0 points on 46.0 percent shooting in his third NBA season, and was essential to keeping the Timberwolves post season hopes alive with Towns out.
Minnesota currently has a 36-37 record and are eighth place in the NBA Western Conference.
Seeing Towns finally return to the lineup with Edwards may give Minnesota the boost they need to ensure the remain a postseason position in the tightly contested battle for the six-ten seeds in the West.
