The Minesotta Timberwolves had high expectations for this 2021-22 season. The firing of Gerson Rosas and promotion of Sachin Gupta as general manager was welcomed by a franchise accustomed to chaos. In fact, the first statements of Karl Anthony-Towns in training camp alluded to the wish that this would finally be the season in which the institutional stability that the pivot still does not know would be achieved. Finally the Wolves would start a season with KAT and Russell healthy, to which add the promise of Anthony Edwards and the permanence of Chris Finch on the bench.
However, as usual, the threat of a good start has given way to a more than disappointing streak – 3-7 in the last 10 games – that places the team on familiar ground. Unfortunately for them. This situation means that Minnesota has already begun to shake the tree to guide the team’s direction. And Myles Turner seems like one of the management’s favorites. This is what Darren Wolfson, a journalist close to Minnesota sports organizations, has told in his latest podcast. In it he assures that “there are some Myles Turner fans in the Wolves offices.”
The Pacers center is already used to his name taking up trade rumors. In the Timberwolves environment, other types of movements have already sounded like one that points to an exchange between DeAndre Ayton and KAT, but Turner’s dubious situation in Pacers will always make him an attractive and, a priori, viable target. The information does not mention which players or pieces the Wolves would be willing to include. But it goes without saying that neither Towns, nor Edwards, nor Russell would enter the equation.
Be that as it may, the arrival of Myles Turner makes sense to finish reinforcing a defensive plot that no longer suffers as in previous seasons. The center is one of the best rim protectors in the league and the current leader in blocks in the league. Which could end up putting the Timberwolves defense in a position close to the elite.
