Is it time to invest in Europe? It’s not fixed yet, warns Tom Becket on the Investing Show – but consider these overlooked emerging markets instead
With the French election out of the way and the ‘safe’ choice of Emmanuel Macron elected, is it time to invest in Europe?
Recent data has shown some economic improvement across the region, companies have been doing well and share prices are on the up.
But, while short-term he believes there are profits to be had, European leaders are in danger of forgetting how grave Europe’s problems still are, says Psigma Investment Management’s Tom Becket.
He joins Simon Lambert, of This is Money, and Richard Hunter, of Wilson King, on the Investing Show to discuss what those problems might be and whether investors and governments are being too complacent – including in the UK.
Becket also outlines where in the world he thinks better opportunities lie, including some lesser considered emerging markets.
Meanwhile, in the other part of the show, Richard takes a look at the health of UK PLC after a slew of British firms released results recently. And Nick looks at whether investors should be worried by the VIX index’s low level.
